Eligibility explained
Can I Study Computer Science with D7?
A D7 is a WASSCE grade, but the answer depends on which subject received it, the institution's minimum grades and the rest of your result. It is not a universal yes or no.

The Short Answer
Possibly, but not automatically. Based on the Find My Uni GH dataset snapshot reviewed 2026-09-12, recorded Computer Science programmes commonly check English Language and Mathematics (Core), plus accepted electives such as Elective Mathematics, ICT (Elective), Physics or Chemistry. A D7 may fail a programme's recorded C6 minimum, while a different programme or a diploma or access route may use different conditions.
Why the subject with D7 matters
If the D7 is in Mathematics (Core) or English Language, it may affect a core requirement directly. If it is in an elective, the result depends on whether that elective is required and what minimum the programme records.
The matcher evaluates each listed core and accepted elective. It does not turn a D7 into a pass at a stricter recorded minimum.
- Check whether the D7 is in English Language, Mathematics (Core), Integrated Science or an elective.
- Check the programme's minimum grade for core and elective subjects.
- Check whether enough other accepted electives remain after the D7.
Computer Science options are not identical
Current records contain Computer Science and related computing programmes with different subject lists, aggregates and qualification pathways. One institution's rule cannot be applied to every provider.
A result labelled near match or can qualify is not the same as qualified. It signals a missing condition or possible alternative that needs confirmation.
- Compare Computer Science with Information Technology and HND Computer Science where appropriate.
- Read the source and cycle attached to each programme.
- Ask the provider whether a D7 is accepted for the exact subject and intake.
Consider a progression route
The pathway evidence includes diploma opportunities at Accra Technical University and Cape Coast Technical University, with programme-specific admission conditions. A diploma can be a route into a related later qualification where the receiving institution permits progression.
This is a pathway, not a guaranteed transfer. Keep your transcript and ask the future receiving institution how it treats the qualification.
- Check whether an active diploma or access route accepts your full result.
- Choose a route related to the degree field you want later.
- Confirm current requirements with both the route provider and any future receiving institution.

The grade scale and matching logic follow the Find My Uni GH dataset snapshot reviewed 2026-09-12. The ATU source supports a provider example, but the result is screening guidance rather than an active-intake requirement. Eligibility screening does not establish admission, programme accreditation, professional licensure, clinical placement or active-intake availability.
