Programmes You Can Study with English Language
English Language is an official WASSCE core subject and is listed across many programme requirements. Having it on your results does not by itself guarantee eligibility or admission.

The Short Answer
Based on the Find My Uni GH dataset snapshot reviewed 2026-09-12, English Language is commonly listed with Mathematics (Core) for computing, business, social science, education and health routes. Your other core subjects, relevant electives, grades and the institution's current rules determine whether a particular programme is suitable.
Where English Language is useful
The current catalogue records English Language in the core requirements for programmes such as Computer Science, Business Administration, Public Health, education and engineering.
The same subject can support different fields because the programme's elective list and grade rules provide the subject-specific filter.
- Computing programmes may also ask for Elective Mathematics, ICT (Elective) or Physics.
- Health programmes may ask for Integrated Science plus Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
- Business and social science programmes may use Economics, Accounting, Government or other accepted electives.
English Language is a core check
In the matcher, core subjects are checked separately from electives. A result can therefore fail even when English Language meets the recorded minimum if another core or elective condition is missing.
Do not treat English Language as a substitute for Literature in English or any other elective. The WAEC catalogue identifies these as distinct subjects.
- Enter the exact English Language grade shown on your WASSCE result.
- Add Mathematics (Core) and the other core subjects requested by the programme.
- Check whether the programme requires an aggregate as well as individual grades.
Before you choose a programme
Use the subject matcher to see recorded options, then read the institution's current notice. Programme names can be similar while entry combinations differ.
A matcher result describes eligibility against available data. Admission can still depend on application documents, intake availability and provider decisions.
- Compare at least two closely related programmes.
- Keep a copy of your certificate and any documents the institution requests.
- Confirm current requirements with the institution before submitting an application.
Match your complete WASSCE result
Use all your subjects and grades, not English Language alone, to find programme requirements that may fit your profile.
Subject names follow the shared WAEC Ghana catalogue and programme matching rules. Programme examples are based on the Find My Uni GH dataset snapshot reviewed 2026-09-12. Eligibility screening does not establish admission, programme accreditation, professional licensure, clinical placement or active-intake availability.
