Overview
HND Petroleum Engineering gives you practical technical knowledge for supporting the exploration, production and management of oil and gas resources. At Takoradi Technical University, the programme is closely connected to Ghana’s petroleum activities in the Western Region and can lead to opportunities in energy, marine services and industrial operations.
What you will study
You study petroleum geology, drilling technology, well completion, reservoir fundamentals, production operations, fluid mechanics, process equipment, health and safety and environmental management. Fieldwork, laboratory practice and industrial attachment help you build skills in well operations, equipment monitoring, data recording, technical reporting and operational safety.
Career prospects
You can work as a petroleum engineering technician, drilling technician, production technician, well services assistant, operations technician or health and safety officer. Employers and sectors include upstream oil and gas companies, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, petroleum service contractors, offshore support firms, refineries, gas processing plants and international energy companies.
