Overview
BEd Music Education prepares you to teach music while developing your practical, creative, and cultural understanding of the art form. It is valuable in Ghana because music supports cultural identity, creativity, teamwork, and whole-person development in schools and communities.
What you will study
You study music theory, ear training, Ghanaian and world music, singing, instrumental performance, composition, conducting, and music technology, together with education courses. You also learn lesson planning, assessment, ensemble direction, and how to organise music activities for different age groups.
Career prospects
You can work as a music teacher, school music director, choir or band coordinator, arts programme officer, private music tutor, or community music facilitator. Opportunities exist in Ghana Education Service schools, private and international schools, churches, cultural institutions, entertainment organisations, NGOs, and creative-arts programmes internationally.
