Overview
BSc Chemical and Renewable Energy Engineering combines chemical process engineering with technologies for cleaner and more reliable energy production. At the University of Cape Coast, it prepares you to support Ghana’s transition to sustainable energy while addressing industrial, environmental, and energy-access challenges.
What you will study
You study chemistry, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, process design, biofuels, solar energy, biomass conversion, energy storage, and renewable power systems. The programme also builds skills in energy audits, environmental assessment, process control, project design, and sustainable technology development.
Career prospects
You can become a renewable energy engineer, energy analyst, process engineer, sustainability officer, environmental consultant, or project officer in solar, bioenergy, manufacturing, utilities, and development organisations. Opportunities exist with companies such as Strategic Power Solutions, SolarTaxi, Bui Power Authority, the Electricity Company of Ghana, the Energy Commission, and international clean-energy firms.
Who this programme may suit
You thrive if you are curious about both industrial chemistry and climate-friendly technology. Creative, environmentally conscious students who enjoy mathematics, experimentation, and designing practical energy solutions are likely to do well.
