Overview

BA Media and Communication Studies at KNUST prepares you to understand and create messages across traditional, digital and social media. It matters in Ghana because organisations need skilled communicators who can inform the public, manage reputation and use media responsibly in a fast-changing digital environment.

What you will study

You study communication theory, journalism, public relations, broadcasting, digital media, advertising, media law, ethics and audience research. Practical work develops your writing, interviewing, photography, audio-visual production, social media management, campaign planning and critical media analysis skills.

Career prospects

You can become a journalist, content producer, social media manager, public relations officer, broadcaster, communication strategist, copywriter or media researcher. You may work with Ghanaian media houses such as JoyNews, Citi TV, TV3 and Graphic Communications Group, or with agencies, corporate communications teams, NGOs and international media organisations.

Who this programme may suit

You thrive if you are creative, observant and confident expressing ideas to different audiences. Curiosity, strong writing, digital awareness, teamwork and the ability to work under deadlines are especially useful.
