Overview

BSc Agricultural Engineering uses engineering principles to improve farming, food production and natural-resource management. It is important in Ghana because mechanisation, irrigation, post-harvest technology and climate-smart systems can raise productivity, reduce losses and strengthen food security.

What you will study

You study farm machinery, soil and water engineering, irrigation and drainage, agricultural structures, renewable energy, surveying, automation and post-harvest processing. The programme develops design, maintenance, data analysis, project management and field problem-solving skills for agricultural environments.

Career prospects

You can work as an agricultural engineer, irrigation engineer, machinery specialist, farm systems manager, post-harvest engineer or technical sales engineer. Opportunities exist with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, irrigation and mechanisation projects, agro-processing companies, equipment dealers, commercial farms, research institutions, NGOs and international development organisations.

Who this programme may suit

You thrive if you enjoy engineering, agriculture, outdoor fieldwork and finding practical solutions to production challenges. You need analytical thinking, creativity, adaptability and an interest in sustainability and rural development.
