Overview

Diagnostic Radiography trains you to use X-rays and related imaging technologies to help diagnose injuries and disease. It is worth pursuing in Ghana because radiographers play a central role in emergency care, cancer services, surgery and routine diagnosis across hospitals and diagnostic centres.

What you will study

You study human anatomy, physiology, radiographic techniques, radiation physics, radiation protection, image quality, pathology and patient care. You gain practical experience in positioning patients, operating imaging equipment, evaluating images and working safely with healthcare teams.

Career prospects

You can become a diagnostic radiographer, radiology department supervisor, applications specialist, imaging quality officer or radiography educator, subject to professional registration. You may work with the Ghana Health Service, teaching hospitals such as Korle Bu and Komfo Anokye, private diagnostic centres, medical equipment companies or healthcare providers abroad.

Who this programme may suit

You thrive if you combine technical confidence with compassion for patients who may be in pain or anxious. Good observation, accuracy, communication and respect for radiation-safety procedures are vital.
