Overview
HND Agricultural Technology provides practical training for the production and management of crops, livestock and farm enterprises. It is especially relevant to Ghana’s northern agricultural economy, where technical skills can improve food security, climate resilience and opportunities for agribusiness.
What you will study
You study crop production, animal production, soil science, farm machinery, irrigation, agricultural extension and farm management. You also learn practical skills in field operations, pest and disease management, farm budgeting, record keeping and marketing.
Career prospects
You can work as an agricultural technician, farm supervisor, extension assistant, production officer, livestock assistant or agricultural sales representative. Potential employers include the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, commercial farms, irrigation and development projects, agro-dealers, NGOs and food-processing companies, while self-employment in farming is another pathway.
Who this programme may suit
You do well if you enjoy farming, practical problem-solving and working outdoors in different communities. Resilience, initiative and the ability to communicate clearly with farmers are important.
