Overview

BArch Architecture trains you to design buildings and spaces that are safe, functional, attractive and responsive to people’s needs. It is worth pursuing in Ghana because rapid urbanisation, housing demand, public infrastructure and sustainable development require skilled architects who understand local conditions.

What you will study

You study architectural design, building technology, structures, construction materials, environmental systems, history and theory, professional practice and urban design. Studio projects develop your abilities in drawing, modelling, digital design, presentation, site analysis, building regulations and design communication.

Career prospects

You can work as an architectural assistant, design consultant, project coordinator, BIM or digital design specialist, urban design assistant or, after meeting professional requirements, a registered architect. Opportunities exist in architectural practices, real estate development, construction firms, government agencies, consultancies and international design or engineering companies.

Who this programme may suit

You thrive if you are creative, observant and interested in buildings, cities and how people use spaces. Strong visual thinking, persistence, communication and willingness to revise your designs are essential.
