Overview

BSc Ecological Agriculture teaches you to produce food while protecting soil, water, biodiversity and human health. The programme is increasingly important in Ghana as farmers respond to climate change, land degradation and demand for safe, sustainable food. You learn approaches that can improve long-term farm resilience and open opportunities in organic and environmentally responsible markets.

What you will study

You study agroecology, organic farming, soil and water conservation, biodiversity, climate-smart agriculture, pest management and sustainable farm systems. You also develop skills in ecological farm design, composting, integrated production, environmental assessment, research and community education.

Career prospects

You can work as an agroecology officer, organic farm manager, sustainability adviser, environmental project officer, agricultural extension specialist or certification assistant. Opportunities exist with ecological farms, NGOs, sustainability programmes, food companies, environmental agencies, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and international organisations.

Who this programme may suit

You will do well if you care about the environment, enjoy biology and want practical solutions to climate and food-system challenges. Creativity, patience, field skills and a strong commitment to sustainability will help you succeed.
