Overview

BSc Nutrition and Dietetics teaches you how food, nutrients and eating patterns affect health, growth and disease. It matters in Ghana because malnutrition, diabetes, hypertension, maternal nutrition and other diet-related conditions require trained professionals who can turn scientific knowledge into practical advice.

What you will study

You cover human nutrition, biochemistry, physiology, food science, nutritional assessment, community nutrition, clinical dietetics, public health and food service management. You build skills in meal planning, dietary counselling, nutrition education, research, programme design and monitoring nutritional status.

Career prospects

You can work as a nutritionist or dietitian in hospitals, Ghana Health Service programmes, public-health agencies, schools, NGOs, food companies and wellness centres, including organisations such as UNICEF-supported nutrition programmes and hospitals. International opportunities exist in clinical nutrition, humanitarian response, sports nutrition, food policy, research and community development.

Who this programme may suit

You thrive if you enjoy biology, food, health education and solving practical problems. Empathy, strong communication, analytical thinking and an interest in helping people change everyday habits will serve you well.
