Overview

BSc Physiotherapy prepares you to help people restore movement, reduce pain, and improve independence after injury, illness, or disability. At UHAS, the programme responds to Ghana’s need for rehabilitation services in hospitals, communities, sports, workplaces, and ageing populations.

What you will study

You study anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics, pathology, exercise therapy, electrotherapy, musculoskeletal care, neurological rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary physiotherapy, and paediatric care. Practical sessions and clinical placements develop your assessment, treatment planning, manual therapy, exercise prescription, patient education, and rehabilitation skills.

Career prospects

You can pursue physiotherapist roles in hospitals, rehabilitation centres, private clinics, sports facilities, schools, occupational health services, and community programmes after meeting professional registration requirements. Employers and sectors include Ghana Health Service, teaching hospitals, private rehabilitation providers, sports clubs, NGOs, and international disability and rehabilitation organisations.

Who this programme may suit

You are likely to thrive if you enjoy anatomy, movement, exercise, and helping people achieve gradual progress. Patience, empathy, physical stamina, observation, and strong interpersonal skills are valuable.
