You also build practical skills in field assessment, geographic information systems, research, community engagement and environmental impact evaluation.

Career prospects

You can work as a natural resource officer, environmental consultant, conservation project officer, forestry officer, wildlife manager or GIS and land-use analyst. Potential employers and sectors include the Forestry Commission, Wildlife Division, Environmental Protection Agency, NGOs, mining companies, research institutions and international development organisations.

You thrive if you enjoy biology, outdoor fieldwork, problem-solving and protecting the environment. Patience, teamwork, data skills and an interest in working with rural communities are valuable.
