Overview
BEd Basic Education prepares you to teach and support young learners across Ghana’s primary and junior high school levels. At the University of Cape Coast, the programme combines classroom expertise with educational knowledge needed to improve learning outcomes and build strong foundations for national development.
What you will study
You study child development, educational psychology, teaching methods, curriculum studies, literacy, numeracy, science, social studies, assessment and classroom management. School-based practice helps you plan lessons, use inclusive methods, assess learners and work with parents and communities.
Career prospects
You can work as a basic school teacher, head of department, school administrator, curriculum support officer, education project officer or private-school tutor. Major opportunities are found in Ghana Education Service schools, private schools, NGOs, education publishers and international development programmes.
