Overview

BSc Planning prepares you to guide how cities, towns, neighbourhoods and rural areas grow and use land. In Ghana, where urbanisation, housing pressure and infrastructure needs are increasing, your planning skills can support more organised, inclusive and sustainable development.

What you will study

You study urban and regional planning, land-use planning, settlement design, environmental management, transport planning, development control, planning law, surveying, GIS and spatial analysis. You also build skills in research, community engagement, report writing and preparing development plans.

Career prospects

You can work as a planning officer, spatial planner, development control officer, urban development consultant, GIS analyst or environmental planning assistant. Employers and sectors include metropolitan and municipal assemblies, the Ministry of Local Government, planning consultancies, real estate developers, NGOs and international development agencies.

Who this programme may suit

You will do well if you care about communities, enjoy solving complex problems and can balance technical analysis with listening to different stakeholders. Curiosity about cities, geography, public policy and sustainable development is valuable.
