What you will study

You study anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, microbiology, pharmacology, oral biology, dental materials, radiography and public health. Clinical training covers oral diagnosis, preventive dentistry, restorative dentistry, periodontology, oral surgery, prosthodontics, orthodontics, paediatric dentistry and patient communication.

Career prospects

After the required professional registration, you can work as a dentist in hospitals, private clinics, dental centres, universities, public health programmes or the Ghana Health Service. With further training, you may specialise in areas such as orthodontics, oral surgery or prosthodontics, and you can pursue opportunities in international health systems, research and humanitarian organisations.
