WASSCE subject guide

Programmes You Can Study with Chemistry

Chemistry is an official WASSCE elective subject that appears in many science-oriented programme requirements. It is one part of the combination, not an admission decision.

The Short Answer

Based on the Find My Uni GH dataset snapshot reviewed 2026-09-12, Chemistry is accepted for several health sciences, engineering, agriculture and family or consumer science options. Whether you are eligible depends on the stated core subjects, required elective count, grades, aggregate and current institution rules.

What Chemistry can support

The dataset snapshot includes Chemistry in elective lists for Medical Laboratory Science, Public Health, Physiotherapy, engineering, agricultural technology and related science routes.

A programme can accept Chemistry while still requiring a particular core subject or another elective. Similar programme names do not prove identical requirements.

  • Health science routes may combine Chemistry with Biology and Physics.
  • Engineering routes may pair Chemistry with Physics and Elective Mathematics.
  • Agriculture and family or consumer science routes may list Chemistry with Biology or other subject options.

Read the accepted elective list

The matcher counts passing electives that match the programme's accepted subjects. It does not assume that every science subject can replace every other one.

Chemistry is distinct from Foods and Nutrition, even where a programme record or a verified similarity rule may present alternatives. Confirm any alternative directly with the institution.

  • Check the number of electives required.
  • Check whether Biology, Physics or Elective Mathematics is specifically required.
  • Compare your grades with the programme's recorded minimum and aggregate rule.

Use results as a starting point

The Find My Uni GH matcher can help you organise options from your full WASSCE result. It is not a substitute for the current admission notice or an institutional assessment.

For professional or regulated routes, ask the provider about the active programme, recognition and any additional process before making a payment.

  • Save the source details attached to a shortlisted programme.
  • Ask whether your exact certificate subjects meet the current combination.
  • Confirm current requirements with the institution before applying.
